Colour Printing Processes
4-colour-process:
Technique of printing that uses four process colours (cyan, magenta, yellow and black) to simulate full-colour images and text.

Spot-colour:
The method of applying colour to a printed project that uses specially mixed inks to depict the colour. There are hundreds of these colours and the most common reference system for selecting them is the Pantone Matching system (PMS).


General Print terms
Bleed: Printing that goes to the edge of a sheet after trimming.
Coated paper: A clay coated printed paper with a smooth finish
Laid Finish: Simulating the surface of handmade textured paper.
Wove paper: A paper having a uniform unlined surface with a smooth finish.
Weight (or gsm): Weight in grams of a quantity of paper cut to sheets that measure one square meter. Known as the thickness of the paper.
