Remember that when choosing a business card design, business card dimensions can include a “bleed area,” which allows images, patterns or design elements to extend beyond the cut edges of the card – this prevents the finished card from having white edges.

Business card thickness is usually measured in ‘grams per square metre’, abbreviated as ‘gsm’. The higher the number, the thicker the card. Standard business card thickness is 350 gsm, but weights can vary by paper type. For instance, our velvet soft touch business cards are actually 450gsm and our matt and gloss laminated cards come in at 400 and 45 gsm.  PVC cards are measured in microns and are pvc business cards are 760mic which is approximately 500gsm.

If the information is still mostly correct, you can keep them as backups by crossing out the out-of-date info and writing in new text. If the cards are mostly inaccurate, we’d recommend recycling them.

It's not necessary, but you definitely can. Some people put their logo or slogan on the back. Others will put their opening hours or company website on the back so that potential customers can quickly check the company out. There are many other options including your QR code with a link to your website or contact details.

For UV Varnishes and raised varnish, you can have the effect on both sides of the business cards.
For Foiled business cards, the front of your card will have whatever colour foil you selected. The back will be a smooth, matte surface — great for adding notes, appointments or other information.

Now you’ve got your measurements down pat, here are some other things to consider when designing your card:

Maximise your logo
Your card is more than just your contact information—it’s a representation of you and your brand. Consider your logo size for your business card or even think about dedicating one side solely to your logo.

Leave some white space
Don’t clutter your business card with too much text—if there are too many elements on the card, they’ll all compete for the reader’s attention and nothing will stand out.

Think dual-purpose.
Make your business card work twice as hard for you and your small business. Use the reverse side for appointment reminders, loyalty stamps or as a blank canvas to showcase something about your business.

Find the right font
If there’s a specific font you’ve been using on your website or other marketing materials, bring that into your business card – consistency is key.

Elevate with a special finish
Pearl accents add a touch of sophisticated shine, while raised UV varnish creates a raised, glossy coating, giving your cards a hard-to-forget 3D feel.

Organise your info
Your business card should give customers everything they need to contact you, find you online or locate your shop or office. Just remember to keep your design clutter-free and balanced with enough white space. 

Today, QR codes are still going strong as an affordable way to give potential customers more information about your business. Whether for contactless restaurant menus or website links, QR codes are now easier than ever to use. With most smartphones, you just need to position the code within your camera and a URL will automatically generate.
